Welcome to The Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Barbados, West Indies
Towards Care Excellence
The Queen Elizabeth Hospital (Q.E.H) is a unique community where all of its departments contribute directly or indirectly to the care of the patients. The service of the hospital entails all of the activities involved in the care of patients from the time they enter the threshold of the institution, continues through their treatment and rehabilitation, until they are capable of resuming their normal activities.

This institution was opened on November 14, 1964 as an acute care facility, which sought to address the medical, surgical, clinical and treatment needs of the Caribbean and to serve as a teaching hospital for those seeking a career in the medical profession.

At the time of opening, the Q.E.H was a four hundred and sixty-four (464) bed facility offering services in the areas of Medicine, General Surgery, Orthopedics, Ophthalmology, Dental Care, Ulcers and Ears, Nose and Throat (ENT) specialisations.

Over the last forty-two years, the hospital has expanded its current bed capacity to six hundred with one Ward closed for renovations. The number of services has grown to include Paediatrics ICU, Delivery Suite, Gynaecology, Neurology, Dermatology, Psychiatry, Invasive Cardiac Care, Radiotherapy, Haematology and Urology.

Our Vision is “to be the leader among healthcare facilities in the region by delivering healthcare services of the highest quality, ever improving the standards we set”
